Vintage Ampeg B-40 bass amp head, in good structural condition, and it works! 100% completely useable, can be used just fine as is, but in order to work PERFECTLY, would need one small repair.

120w RMS, 2 channel solid state bass amp, weighs around 40 lbs. These originally were manufactured as a combo amp, but starting in 1977, Ampeg started making it component style, with the head and the speaker cabinet as separate pieces. Not sure of the exact year this one was made, but likely in the late 1970's.

The tone controls are not pots, per se, but rather, they are rotary switches. In other words, when you adjust one of the tone controls, it clicks into place. There was a little scratchiness when switching the settings, so I cleaned the switches, and they pretty much all straighened up. The exception to that was the midrange control for channel two, just couldn't get it cleaned up, so it's scratchy, and a little intermittent.

If you're not going to use both channels at the same time why would you? , it won't be an issue.

If you are please explain to me why you would? , then the midrange control for channel 2 will need some attention. Also, it has a little bit of hiss when you turn the treble to total maximum (11, I guess, lol). It's not an extreme amount of hiss, but it is noticeable. I took it to my amp repair guy (Austin at Richards Music in Lawrence Ks), he said there was nothing wrong with it.

He said it's not unusual for a solid state amp as old as this one is (from the 1970s) to have a little bit of hiss with the treble turned all the way up. So we'll go with that. If you don't turn it to completely max, it shouldn't be noticeable. In good overall shape structurally, no cracks or breaks, no damage to the chassis. The tolex just looks like what you would expect to see on a nearly 50 year-old amp that was used a bit. But it's not an eyesore at all, just looks well used.
